Engineer - Reduction Processes

The Reduction team works closely with our smelting operations to maximise cash flow through improving the performance and efficiency of their operations by the development and deployment of technological improvement. Additionally, the team aims to provide technical support to PacAl’s smelter operations including support for technology transfer and deployment.

Based in Brisbane, you will: 

  • lead/participate in Reduction focused projects in support of our operational sites.
  • assist in delivering reduction cell design and operational support including process health checks, audits and kaizen.
  • proactively work with site customers to share and transfer best practice and knowledge among PacAl smelters.
  • evaluate technologies/projects using techno-economic modelling including value and risk assessments.
  • behave in a way that encourages all members of the Group to behave consistently with PacAl values and help achieve the strategic targets, particularly with respect to HSE and continuous improvement.
  • establish and maintain a network of site and other external technical contacts enabling access to relevant expertise and developments.
  • develop your personal brand as a respected team member, who delivers value and authority in Reduction technology.

The successful candidate will be ideally tertiary qualified in Chemical / Process Engineering or similar with demonstrated experience within the aluminium reduction process. You will have demonstrated experience working within a technical support role, ideally within a smelter or corporate environment.  Certification in Lean Six Sigma is highly desirable. You will also possess the ability and willingness to travel to operational sites across Australia and New Zealand. You will demonstrate excellent communication, project management skills and a high attention to detail.
