Finance team

The PacAl Finance team is responsible for protecting and enhancing the business unit’s assets through services including business reporting and analytics; planning, budgeting and forecasting; and financial accounting and reporting functions.

 The role

The Financial Accountant role is positioned within the Financial Reporting team and supports the Pacific Aluminium operations at our 4 smelters by contributing to the accurate and timely reporting of financial information in accordance with Pacific Aluminium and local accounting policies and reporting requirements.

Based in Brisbane, you will be accountable for

  • Monthly processing, analysis and reconciliation of financial information.
  • Monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and end-of-year financial accounting reporting requirements.
  • Produce monthly COS and journals for our share of the 4 Smelters which form part of Pacific Aluminium’s Smelting Consolidated earnings.
  • Monthly input of financials and journal entries into HFM.
  • Completion of balance sheet reconciliations for major Pacific Aluminium entities on a monthly basis and minor entities on a quarterly basis.
  • Analysis of financial statements (balance sheet and P&L movement) on a monthly basis. Consolidation of smelting results for internal and external reporting.
  • Liaise with the Pacific Aluminium smelting business and support units, ensuring alignment of systems and processes to facilitate the timely, accurate and efficient completion of business unit financial information.
  • Completion of statistical returns and statutory accounts, and liaising with external auditors.

About you 

As the successful applicant, you will have a minimum of three years’ experience in financial accounting or equivalent in a Chartered firm. You must be proficient in understanding, manipulating and reporting financial data (preferably with exposure to SAP and HFM systems). You will possess excellent communication and time management skills as well as a high attention to detail.
