The primary purpose of this role is two-fold: firstly as the Emergency Services Officer for the NZAS site, and secondly as the Chief Fire Officer of the onsite volunteer Tiwai Industrial Fire Brigade.

The Emergency Services Officer is the interface with many people across site. This requires a good working knowledge of NZAS business processes, legislation, protocols, and contingency procedures, particularly involving disaster management and recovery, and HSE compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing appropriate training and development opportunities for emergency team members ensuring that training meets Fire and Emergency Standards.
  • Developing training plans, risk plans and scenarios in areas of risk across site which includes familiarization with equipment and procedures.
  • Providing ‘Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Training’ and ‘Line Rescue ‘opportunities for emergency services team members.
  • Planning Disaster Management Recovery exercises.

To be successful in this role you'll have: 

  • A station officer or fire fighter (career or volunteer) qualification and experience,
  • Experience and or qualifications in disaster management recovery, and workplace training and assessment.
