Please note under the Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Act 2004, you do not need to declare a New Zealand conviction if ALL of the following apply:

a) You have had no convictions within the last 7 years;
b) You have never been sentenced to a custodial sentence e.g. imprisonment, corrective training, borstal;
c) You have never been ordered by a Court following a criminal case to be detained in a hospital due to your mental condition, instead of being sentenced;
d) You have not been convicted of a "specified offence" (e.g. sexual offending against children and young people or the mentally impaired);
e) You have paid in full any fine, reparation, or costs ordered by the Court in a criminal case;
f) You have never been indefinitely disqualified from driving under section 65 Land Transport Act 1998 or earlier equivalent provision.

However, regardless of how long ago you were convicted, you are not eligible to conceal your conviction if:

a) You have ever been convicted of a sexual offence; or
b) You have ever been disqualified from holding a driver licence for repeat offending involving alcohol/drugs; or
c) The conviction was from overseas.

We require a mandatory pre-employment medical which includes drug and alcohol screening.
