Bell Bay Aluminium is part of the Rio Tinto Group, a global leader in aluminium; one of the world’s most widely used metals.

Based approximately 50 kilometres from Launceston in Northern Tasmania, the smelter commenced production in 1955 and was the first aluminium smelter built in the southern hemisphere. The smelter produces primary aluminium products. The majority of our metal is cast to customer requirements and is exported to international markets. Bell Bay Aluminium is seeking applications for maintenance crew leaders in our Asset & Project Management department.

You will be required to work a 12 hour continuous day and night shift roster and will report to the Superintendent Maintenance.

The key tasks of the role include:

  • Leading and developing team members
  • Continuously improving the culture of the team through strong and inspiring leadership
  • Deliver a maintenance plan safely and within budget
  • Focusing the team on safe work practices
  • Maintaining standards against procedures
  • Ensuring the full capability of each crew member is applied in sustaining and improving operations
  • Creating engaging and enduring relationships with team members

Previous leadership experience is essential and industrial experience would be well regarded but is not critical.  You will have a trade or engineering qualification and be able to communicate well with all levels of the organisation and build and motivate a productive and cohesive team.
